It seems I’ve been doing lots of waiting lately, waiting for a doctor, waiting at home until I can get the second vaccine, waiting for a salesman, waiting while my husband goes into the store…all sorts of waiting. As anyone who knows me will tell you, I’m not the best waiter in town. I get impatient, time seems to slow to a crawl, my mind starts in on all the things I could be doing.
My solution? Find a good book, then don’t leave home without it. Now that’s my kind of solution, one that involves coping with something I hate while indulging in something that I love. It’s much easier now that many books are electronic and I can pull them up on my phone in a pinch, although I do prefer a larger reading surface like my tablet.

One of the books I just finished is one I would recommend to anyone who likes a good mystery. It is A Fatal Affair by Faith Martin. There is a caveat though, it’s part of a series and to get the most enjoyment out of the series, I recommend you read them in order, starting with the first one. There are relationship issues and some professional growth issues that occur with the two main characters and you will enjoy them more if you experience that growth as it happens.
Here’s an excerpt from my review for www.NetGalley.com .

“The sixth of the series, and they keep getting better and better. This time out Trudy and Dr. Ryder are give the task of trying to determine if a young man’s death is due to suicide or murder. The request comes from the Chief Superintendent so Trudy’s boss, DI Jennings, can’t block it, even though he still thinks Trudy should be limited to making coffee and fetching files. “

If you find yourself waiting for anything, or just needing to take a break from all your activity, may I suggest you indulge in a good book or two. For now, I’m going to get my most recent one and settle in to wait for the weather to get pretty again. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. For now, Happy Reading.
